Norway精东影业 Norse Atlantic Airways has received its air operator精东影业 certificate (AOC) and operating license (OL) from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, allowing the carrier to launch commercial operations from the United Kingdom.

The low-cost long-haul carrier intends to launch transatlantic flights between London Gatwick and several US destinations, subject to regulatory approval.

The news comes just over two months after the airline精东影业 subsidiary Norse Atlantic Airways UK applied for a foreign carrier permit from the US Department of Transportation.

鈥淲e look forward to ramping up our operations between London and the US ready for our Summer 2023 schedule,鈥 said Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways.

Norse Atlantic made its inaugural commercial long-haul flight between Oslo (OSL) and New York (JFK) in mid-summer 2022.

Norse Atlantic is founded by some of the team behind low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle. The latter restructured after getting heavily into debt and is now focusing solely on short-haul flights within Europe with a pared-down fleet.

With eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners currently in its fleet, the low-cost long-haul carrier plans to operate a total of 15 787s.
